DRONEMUSIC 2001
Celebrate Psi Phenomenon

About: "Dronemusic indeed. Seht is one Steven Clover, who has released a handful of limited lathe cuts under different names. On 'Dronemusic' Clover crafts deep, rich sonorous drone music, seemingly simple but lush with harmonic overtones. As the record progresses, the drone becomes less and less obvious, from looped guitars and spastic rhythmic guitars to vaccuum cleaner drones and distorted woofer rumble to super austere almost Bernard Gunter-esque minimal dronescapes."

APPLICATION ANTARCTICA DOWNLOAD FORM 2005
Celebrate Psi Phenomenon

About: "Brrrrr, it's gettin cold in here... don't fall asleep 'cause you may never wake up. Like its namesake, Antarctica... comes on like a vast cathedral of suspended ice-prongs dripping out action at a pace roughly comparable to the formation of a glacier. Nature's fractured architecture pixelated and amplified through the green luminescence of night vision goggles... almost TOO beautiful to be real? My esteemed friends, this falls well inside the parameters of 'effortless' and, not to make too fine a point of it, makes even the most vogue-ish dronesters look pretty silly indeed. A zenith of sensual, hypothermic dream-states. File under 'Near Death'."

COMMUNION LONGPLAYER 2005
Celebrate Psi Phenomenon

Review: "I think I should learn the New Zealand national anthem. In the past year, I've really grown to love that country. The people I know native to the island and the bands and artists coming out of there are second to none. I'd say it was some kind of utopia if it didn't take 22 hours to get there by plane. That would probably kill me. seht's "Communion" 3" CD-R has the fidgety feeling that I get when I am couped up in a small space for an extended amount of time. It's claustrophobic. These metallic drones offer up the soundtrack to the surface of the moon. By using heavy doses of electronics and synthesizers, seht put together a sonic desolate landscape. Your mind can't help but race and explore its own depths, searching for anything tangible to grab onto. The best piece here is the 10 minute excursion, "Where is My Homing Signal?" It's an appropriate title as I envision a lost explorer desperately searching for a downed spacecraft. There's a sense of desperation prevalent throughout, and the deep synth hum hints at someone following the proceedings closely. It's eerie, but the way seht pulls it off is very impressive. Over the course of 20 minutes, seht keeps his distance from earth. There's nothing organic about this, but the cold, moonrock-quality that each of these three tracks has is inviting in its own bizarre way. You'll find no comfort here, but these sounds will keep you on your toes. It will open your mind and get your brain racing from one idea to the next. Another excellent release from Psuedo Arcana."

THE GREEN MORNING 2006
Digitalis

About: "Another classic slab of dark dreamy drone from Stephen Clover aka Seht. The title definitely hints at what you'll find on this here disc: a slow moving glacial drone, icy and crystalline, throbbing and reverberating, shifting and swirling, barely there but somehow totally and gorgeously suffocating. Lush layers of sound, piled atop one another, as we watch each layer slowly merge with the one beneath it, sonic tendrils surreptitiously exploring the layers around it, until all the layers are inexorably linked, a slowly squirming intertangled mass, dreamy and hypnotic, but haunting and foreboding as well. The second track threw us for a loop though, when a seemingly out of place shuffling drum beat kicked in, all dubbed out and effected, which at first seemed totally distracting, but quickly drew us in with its propulsive throb, and the whole thing quickly becomes some sort of gorgeously alien krautrock. Really cool."

CHRISTIAN JESUS, I WILL DETERMINE A SUICIDE 2007
Foxglove

About: "sailing on seas of light, seht's (aka stephen clover) latest journey begins as a damaged boat heading toward the edges of oblivion. even as it sinks into its icy grave, the victorian-inspired sounds of whimsy and celebration echo through the caustic waves. this music is ghostly and soothing. but everything takes a turn for the worse as clover heads into the home stretch. metallic sludge rises and falls, churning up everything in its path like a tornado destined to find the gates of hell. these dark and murky drones leave everything to the imagination, but you have to jump in headfirst, as seht is not here to hold your hand. as usual, stephen clover produces another mesmerzing, ambient masterpiece. 100 copies."
